Rolls-Royce unveiled the eighth-generation Phantom by livestream on 27 July 2017 and showed it in public two days later at Bonhams in Mayfair, in an exhibition called The Great Eight Phantoms that gathered a notable car from every generation, Fred Astaire's Phantom I and John Lennon's painted Phantom V among them. It was the first Phantom with the Pantheon grille set into the surrounding bodywork. The Extended Wheelbase car is 220 mm longer than the standard one, and the extra length goes to the rear compartment. In May 2022 the company announced Series II: the grille is now lit from within, a polished line runs between the daytime running lamps above it, and the headlamps carry laser-cut starlights in their bezels.
This model is matte white all over, and the flat paint makes the chrome grille, window surrounds and Spirit of Ecstasy stand out all the more. The faceted multi-spoke wheels are dark with polished faces. Through the open door the cabin is cream leather on the seats and door panels against a black dashboard, with the Phantom name on the fascia panel and a dark, speckled headliner overhead. It sits on a black velvet base with white stitching, and the etched plaque reads Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase II, Jim&Bill and Henson&Heaven, one of 30. H&H builds it at 1:18.
