The Singer Dynamics and Lightweighting Study is the most obsessive expression of the air-cooled 911 ever built, the product of Singer working alongside Williams Advanced Engineering to extract everything possible from a 964 platform. Underneath the carbon-fibre bodywork sits a 4.0-litre flat-six engineered for a near-9,000rpm ceiling, while the visible details here tell the story: the finely drawn ducktail, the centre-lock Fuchs-pattern wheels, the DLS badge on the engine lid. Nothing about it is nostalgic for its own sake. It is a reconsideration of the classic 911 by people who refused to accept that the original could not be improved, built for collectors who measure a car by its engineering rather than its badge.
The pink finish is an unexpected choice for a car usually shown in restrained earth tones, and it reads as confident rather than playful, set off by the polished wheel lips and gold-script Porsche lettering along the sills. Make Up captures the DLS at 1:18 on a presentation base, down to the slatted engine vents and the quad tailpipes.
