Porsche 918 Spyder, Metallic Red

Porsche showed the 918 Spyder as a concept at Geneva in 2010 and unveiled the production car at Frankfurt in September 2013. It paired a 4.6-litre V8, based on the architecture of the RS Spyder racer and giving 608 PS at 8,700 rpm, with two electric motors for a combined 887 PS and 1,280 Nm, sent through a seven-speed PDK gearbox. Porsche quoted 2.6 seconds to 100 km/h and a top speed of 345 km/h, and in September 2013 a car with the Weissach Package lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:57, the first street-legal production car to go under seven minutes there. Production was limited to 918 cars and ended in June 2015.

This example is a deep metallic red with plenty of sparkle in the paint, shown with its roof panels removed. Inside, tan leather seats carry 918 Spyder embroidery, and carbon is used for the mirrors, splitter and rear diffuser. Silver multi-spoke wheels with red centre locks fill the arches, and the tail wears an MP Merit Partners plate. It stands on a white leather base with red stitching and a plaque that sets out the car's specification beneath the Porsche 918 Spyder name, as part of an edition of 12. The model is built at 1:18.
