Porsche 918 Spyder, Matte Grey Martini

Porsche offered the 918 Spyder with a Weissach package, priced at $84,000 in the United States. It saved about 41 kg, using magnesium wheels made by BBS, an extended rear diffuser and Alcantara inside, with carbon fibre for the windscreen frame, the roof, the mirrors and the rear wing. Under it all was the same hybrid drivetrain, a 4.6-litre V8 and two electric motors giving 887 PS between them. Porsche also made the Martini Racing design available to 918 customers, after signing a new agreement with the Martini brand in 2012 and running its test cars in the stripes. This one takes them in a much quieter direction.

The body is a dark matte grey, and the Martini stripes, the door roundels and the lettering on the bonnet are printed in a deeper tone, so they show only when the light runs across them. An Imola banner crosses the top of the windscreen, and the rear carries a Minnesota number plate in an Imola Motorsports frame. The wheels are dark grey multi-spoke rims with the drilled discs showing through, and the cabin is black with pale stitching and carbon trim. The roof panels can be fitted or left off, as the photographs show. On the white leather base, the etched plaque lists the car's figures and reads Limited, one of 12. It is built at 1:18.
