Porsche 911 Turbo S, Ocean Jade Metallic

The 993 Turbo S closed a chapter. It was the last air-cooled 911 Turbo, built in tiny numbers as Porsche prepared to retire the flat-six it had refined for three decades, and it sent that engine off with twin turbos, all-wheel drive and a measured aggression the standard Turbo never quite reached. The intent shows in the details: the fixed biplane wing standing proud above the engine lid, the hollow-spoke wheels behind yellow calipers, the air intakes cut into the rear quarters. Nothing is shouted. It is a car for someone who already knows what a 993 is and wanted the final, hardest version of it.

The turquoise metallic catches the curve of those round 993 headlamps and the long, taut flank in a way a flat colour never would, with the "Turbo S" script picked out cleanly on the engine lid. It is built at 1:18 on a carbon-finish presentation base, with the yellow calipers and the louvres in the wing carried through. It is one of 20.
