Weight is the other half of the study's name, and the numbers bear it out. With a body made entirely of carbon fibre, and magnesium and titanium used through the chassis, the DLS weighs 990 kg at the kerb. Most of the original structure was discarded, the suspension included. The car runs on 18-inch forged magnesium centre-lock wheels from BBS with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres made for it, and it stops on Brembo monoblock calipers with carbon ceramic discs. The racing driver Marino Franchitti drove the development car.
Here it is finished in a pale metallic blue, with white and champagne stripes along the sills and across the bumpers, and PORSCHE set into the white on the doors and repeated in silver on the tail. The centre-lock wheels have champagne spokes, dark centres and gold nuts. Through the glass the cabin is cream, from the shell seats with their harness slots to the door cards and the panel beneath the carbon dashboard, with a carbon-spoked steering wheel and a short gear lever on the tunnel. The Singer script sits on the engine grille above the DLS plate. The carbon-weave base carries a plaque reading D&C, with the Singer script and Limited Edition, one of 20. It is built at 1:18, in a run of 20 for each colour.
