Porsche 911 RWB (993), Supreme Red

Rauh-Welt Begriff, German for rough world concept, is the name Akira Nakai gave to his Porsche work in Chiba, Japan, and an RWB car is not assembled from a catalogue. Nakai goes to the owner, marks the cut lines on the factory wings with tape, cuts them freehand and rivets on his own arches, bumpers, sills and wing, usually over two or three days. Then he gives the car a name. The front lip of this one reads Zweite Entwicklung, second development, the wording RWB adopted after its earlier Sekund Entwicklung sticker turned out to be poor German. Underneath it all is a 993, the last of the air-cooled 911s.

The model is finished in bright gloss red, with the Supreme name in large white letters across both doors and Medusa script in black along the sills. The graphics are a livery on the model only and imply no link with the label. Riveted arch extensions in satin black flare out over bronze five-spoke wheels, the tyres lettered idlers in white, and a tall twin-plane wing rises above the louvred engine lid and its RWB lettering. Through the glass are two Recaro seats and a roll cage. It stands on black leather stitched in red over a red plinth, and the brushed plaque carries the ivymage logo, 993 RWB and the edition, one of 20. It is made by IVY under its ivymage name.
