The 904 Carrera GTS was Porsche's first car with a glass-fibre body, bonded to a steel ladder frame, and its low, taut shape was drawn by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. Just over a hundred were built so that it could race as a GT car, and in 1964 one won the Targa Florio outright. A rally car it was not, yet for the Monte Carlo Rally in January 1965 a factory-backed 904, chassis 904-006, was entered for Eugen Böhringer, the former Mercedes works driver and 1962 European Rally Champion. Beside him sat Rolf Wütherich, the mechanic who had survived the 1955 crash that killed James Dean. In a rally of heavy attrition they finished second overall and first in their class, behind Timo Mäkinen's Mini Cooper S. It was Böhringer's final season.

CMC's model is finished in metallic silver with a black #150 on the doors, Rallye Monte-Carlo plates on the nose and tail, twin auxiliary lamps on the front lid, Stuttgart registration S-TJ 16 and a D plate, and the Sebring exhaust. The doors open, the front lid lifts and the whole rear section hinges up to show the two-litre flat-four, its fan housing lettered Porsche, and the suspension around it. Inside are blue cloth seats, a wood-rimmed wheel and a three-dial instrument panel. A limited edition of 1,500 pieces, built by CMC at 1:18.
