The Zonda was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 1999. Horacio Pagani had planned to call it the Fangio F1, after Juan Manuel Fangio, but after Fangio's death in 1995 he named it for the zonda, a hot wind that blows over Argentina. The early cars used a 6.0-litre Mercedes M120 V12. The Zonda F of 2005 brought an all-new 7.3-litre AMG M297, and that engine, tuned to 760 PS, powers the one-off series Pagani went on building for individual clients, some of them rebuilt from existing or crashed chassis.
This piece is a coupé in deep violet over bare carbon, with a green, white and red stripe running down the centre of the nose and up the rear wing support. The roof, sills and lower body show the exposed weave, the wheels are black multi-spoke, and the round four-pipe exhaust at the back is ringed in violet. The black suede base has white stitching and a mirrored plaque reading ZONDA Viola. H&H builds it at 1:18.
