Pagani showed the Zonda R at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show as a track-only car and built 15 of them between 2009 and 2011. Its engine came from Mercedes racing: the 6.0-litre GT 112 V12 of the CLK-GTR, here making 750 PS at 7,500 rpm and driven through a six-speed Xtrac sequential gearbox. The central tub is carbon fibre with an integrated roll cage, the subframes are Avional, the centre-lock wheels are forged magnesium, and the dry weight is 1,070 kg. On 30 June 2010 Pagani claimed a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:47, which it called a record for production-based cars.
This piece wears the dress of that record run: satin black carbon with orange pinstripes along the flanks, PAGANI and PIRELLI on the doors, Zonda R script on the sills, and a 6:47 decal on the nose beside the Top Gear logo. The wheels are gold multi-spoke centre-locks and the cabin shows red. At the back the silver engine cover sits under the tall swan-neck wing, above the open diffuser and the central exhaust cluster. It stands on a black suede base with white stitching and a mirrored PAGANI ZONDA R plaque. H&H builds it at 1:18.
