The R34 was the last GT-R to carry the Skyline name. Production ended in 2002, and when the GT-R returned in December 2007 Nissan had separated it from the Skyline as a model of its own, known simply as the Nissan GT-R. The R34 kept the formula of the cars before it: the twin-turbo RB26DETT straight-six, all-wheel drive and a six-speed Getrag manual. Its dashboard held a 5.8-inch screen showing seven live readings, and the optional Nismo unit brought a lap timer and a G-force meter. The official output stayed at 280 PS, the figure the Japanese makers had agreed between themselves, although tests suggested about 327 hp at the flywheel.
This Customized Edition build is finished in white and set off by gold ten-spoke wheels. The front wings are vented and pulled out over the wheels, carbon canards and a carbon splitter sharpen the nose, carbon skirts run along the sides and a tall carbon wing rises from the boot lid. With the bonnet lifted away, the engine bay shows the red cam cover and a strut brace. At the back are the four round tail lamps, the GT-R badge, SKYLINE lettering on the boot panel and a single large exhaust. The base is black leather with white stitching and a glass plaque reading GT-R R34 Customized Edition. IVY builds it at 1:18.
