Mercedes-AMG unveiled the SLS AMG Black Series at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, and sales began in June 2013. The 6.2-litre V8 gained new camshafts and a valvetrain built for an 8,000 rpm redline, and it made 631 PS (622 hp) at 7,400 rpm, at the time the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in a production car. The car was 70 kg lighter than the standard coupé, helped by more carbon fibre in the body panels and frame, a titanium exhaust that saved 13 kg and a lithium-ion battery that saved 8 kg. The front and rear tracks grew by 20 and 24 mm, and an optional Aerodynamics package added a fixed carbon wing of the type used on the GT3.

This one is finished in satin gold, a matte surface that shows the long bonnet and the curve of the gullwing roof without reflections. The bonnet carries its central air outlet, and the carbon splitter, the carbon vent behind each front wheel and the black rear diffuser with four tailpipes and an AMG plate stand out against the paint. The carbon wing sits on two struts above the boot lid. The thin-spoked wheels are dark grey, with orange brake calipers behind them, and the car stands on a black suede base with white stitching. H&H builds it at 1:18.
