Mercedes-Benz G63, Platinum Magno

The G63 is an unlikely survivor: a body-on-frame military descendant that, four decades on, became a fixture outside every city hotel worth its valet stand. The 2025 car keeps the upright glasshouse, exposed door hinges and round headlamps that make a G a G, then hides a hand-built twin-turbo V8 behind that slatted grille, visible here in the gloss-black mesh, the AMG badging on the front plate, and the quad side-exit pipes tucked under the sills. The chrome spare-wheel cover and side-hinged tailgate are the honest old-Geländewagen details that no amount of AMG money has been allowed to erase. It is a vehicle that does almost nothing efficiently and is adored precisely for it.

The matte Platinum Magno paint is the point: a low-sheen silver-grey that reads as concrete under hard light and lets the gloss-black grille, wheels and arch trim do the talking, with red calipers flashing behind the spokes. The model holds the upright stance and the satin-versus-gloss contrast cleanly; it is built at 1:18 and presented on a carbon-weave base. A G-Wagen as object, sitting still and looking as though it could outlast everyone around it.
