The CLK-GTR exists because Mercedes wanted to win the FIA GT Championship and the rules of 1997 let it build a Le Mans-style prototype with a token handful of road cars to make it legal. What looks like a CLK is pure fiction: under the silver skin sits a carbon monocoque and a mid-mounted V12, the cabin pushed far forward and the long tail stretched out to a towering rear wing. It took the 1997 and 1998 titles almost at will, and the road-going versions that followed were among the rarest and most expensive cars of their era. This is the car in full works trim, Warsteiner on the flanks, Bridgestone and Mobil 1 down the sides, the number 10 on the nose.
IVY captures the AMG silver cleanly, the matte race finish set against the gloss of the canopy and the deep red tail lights, with the BBS centre-locks and the full sponsor decals rendered crisply at this scale. A serious piece of late-90s GT history. IVY presents it at 1:18 on a lacquered display base.
