The G-Class began as a military off-roader, developed from 1972 by Daimler-Benz and Steyr-Daimler-Puch of Graz after a suggestion from the Shah of Iran, and it went on sale to civilians in 1979. It has a body-on-frame chassis and three fully locking differentials, rare in a passenger vehicle. Long-wheelbase versions have been part of its story, from the five-door station wagon to the four-door G 650 landaulet and the armoured G 500 Guard. The second-generation W463 was launched at Detroit on 14 January 2018, its G 63 powered by AMG's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 of 577 hp and 850 Nm, with side pipes on the exhaust.

This piece shows a G 63 with a stretched body: three doors a side and a fixed window behind, on a long wheelbase between gloss-black AMG wheels with red calipers. The matte black paint is broken by chrome on the door trim strips, the running boards, the bumper inserts and the ring around the rear spare wheel. The grille has vertical bars and a gold-toned star, the V8 BITURBO badge sits on the front wing, and the side pipes exit below the middle door. It stands on a black leather base with red stitching. It is built at 1:18.
