Mercedes launched the revised C126 coupé range at the Frankfurt IAA in 1985, and the 560 SEC sat at the top of it with a 5.5-litre version of the M117 V8, made by stroking the 5-litre engine and rated at about 300 PS. Mercedes built 74,060 C126 coupés in all. AMG offered its own engines for the car in 5, 5.5 and 6 litres, along with a wide-body kit for the coupé. RM Sotheby's, selling a 1989 560 SEC 6.0 AMG Wide-Body, describes its twin-cam conversion and the AMG body numbers on the front wings, bumpers and side skirts, and notes that the engine and body work together cost more than a Ferrari Testarossa.

This one is bright red, body colour even on the grille and its star. The AMG front apron carries small AMG lettering, the widened arches run into deep side skirts, and the multi-piece wheels have red centres inside polished rims. The cabin is black, and a small spoiler sits on the boot lid above the twin tailpipes. It stands on a black leather base stitched in red, over a woven black plinth edged in red, with a plaque reading Mercedes Benz 560 SEC AMG 6.0 Widebody and Limited Edition. It is built at 1:18.
