The Aventador J was the car Lamborghini brought to the Geneva show in March 2012 and promised never to repeat. It kept the Aventador's 6.5-litre V12, seven-speed ISR gearbox and four-wheel drive, then removed the roof and the windscreen altogether, leaving a pair of small wind deflectors in their place. The name came from Appendix J of the FIA rulebook, which defines racing car classes, and recalled the Miura-based Jota of 1970. The seats were trimmed in Carbonskin, a woven carbon fibre fabric Lamborghini had patented, the air conditioning was left out to save weight, and the wheels had carbon inserts that worked as fans to cool the brakes. The single car was road legal, and Lamborghini sold it to a private buyer.
This model is finished in metallic red, with the two separate seats behind their carbon hoops, the small deflectors ahead of them and the red mirrors on slim stalks. Black wheels with red centre caps fill the arches, the carbon splitter carries a small Italian flag at each corner, and at the back the Aventador J plate sits above twin hexagonal tailpipes, under a carbon wing. It stands on a carbon-weave base with a black leather-bound edge, built at 1:18.
