Ferrari F50, Red

Ferrari turned fifty and built itself a present: a road car with a racing engine bolted to a carbon-fibre tub. The F50's 4.7-litre V12 was lifted, near enough, from the 1990 Formula 1 programme and softened only as far as the road would allow. There were no turbos, no traction control, nothing between the driver and 8,500 rpm. Lift away the targa roof and it becomes the barchetta shown here, the V12 left open to the air behind your shoulders.

The model keeps the engine cover clear so the chrome induction trumpets, the woven carbon deck and the photo-etched mesh read exactly as they do on the full-size car. Finished in Rosso Corsa on a presentation base and made to be looked at closely.
