Ken Okuyama, then head of design at Pininfarina, shaped the Enzo, and Ferrari announced it at the 2002 Paris Motor Show. The plan was 399 cars; a 400th went to the Vatican and was later sold at Sotheby's for US$1.1 million. Formula 1 supplied the thinking: a carbon-fibre body, carbon ceramic brakes, and a six-speed automated manual gearbox that shifts in 150 milliseconds, with LEDs on the steering wheel telling the driver when to change up. Behind the cabin sits the 6.0-litre F140 V12, rated at 660 PS at 7,800 rpm and 657 Nm at 5,500 rpm, with a redline of 8,200 rpm. Ferrari also gave it active aerodynamics, something Formula 1 rules did not allow.
Davis & Giovanni finishes the whole body in exposed carbon weave under a deep gloss lacquer, from the nose and bonnet ducts along the scalloped flanks to the rear deck and diffuser, with Pininfarina script on the rear flank. Red leather fills the cabin under the wraparound screen. The five-spoke wheels carry the carbon weave too, with a red line around each rim and red centre-lock nuts. At the rear are the four round tail lamps, two pairs of exhaust tips and a yellow plate reading ENZO DH. The car sits on a white leather base with red stitching and a black plaque. Davis & Giovanni builds it at 1:18.
