The heart of the 812 Competizione is the F140 V12, an engine family first seen in the Enzo, kept here at 6.5 litres but heavily reworked. Titanium connecting rods are 40 per cent lighter, the pistons have a low-friction diamond-like coating, and a revised cylinder head with sliding finger followers allows a rev limit 500 rpm higher than the 812 Superfast, at 9,500 rpm. A new intake with variable-length tracts keeps the torque at low revs. The result is 830 PS at 9,250 rpm, which evo called the most powerful purely petrol-powered road car engine Ferrari had made. Ferrari built 999 coupés and 599 of the open Competizione A.
BBR finishes this car in plain gloss red with no stripe, the black carbon blade across the bonnet breaking up the long nose. The wheels are black multi-spoke designs, the slatted panel takes the place of the rear glass, and black sills and a black diffuser run along the bottom of the body, with the 812 Competizione script on the tail. It stands on a red leather base with a plaque at the front carrying a silver prancing horse, the model name and the words Edizione Limitata. BBR builds it at 1:43.
