The 599 GTO was the third Ferrari to carry the letters GTO, for Gran Turismo Omologato, after the 250 GTO of 1962 and the 288 GTO of 1984, and unlike them it was not built to homologate a racing car. It grew from the 599 GTB Fiorano, the front-engined V12 grand tourer that made its debut at Geneva in 2006, and from the 599XX track car. The GTB's 6.0-litre V12 gave 620 PS; in the GTO it was raised to 670 PS at 8,250 rpm. Ferrari announced the car in April 2010, planned 599 examples and claimed a top speed of more than 335 km/h.
Painted in Viola, a metallic purple, this one runs on black multi-spoke wheels, with a black mesh grille at the front and the GTO badge on the tail between the round lamps, above the black diffuser and four exhausts. Yellow Ferrari shields sit on the front wings, and the cabin seen through the rear glass is tan. The car sits on a black leather base with red stitching, and the plaque at the front names the 599 GTO and reads Edizione Limitata. BBR builds it at 1:43.
