Ferrari announced the 458 Speciale in August 2013 and showed it at the Frankfurt Motor Show that September as the most focused version of the 458. The 4.5-litre V8 was reworked to give 605 cv at 9,000 rpm and 540 Nm, dry weight came down to 1,290 kg, and the car lapped Fiorano in 1 minute 23.5 seconds, a second and a half quicker than the 458 Italia. It also introduced active aerodynamics, with moving flaps at the front and rear that balance downforce against drag, a system Ferrari said would carry over to its future cars.
This one is painted a soft, powdery light blue, with a stripe down the centre of the car: a broad dark blue band edged in white, running from the nose over the roof and engine cover to the tail. The cabin is trimmed in blue grey with pale blue stitching, and the seats have white perforated centres crossed by dark stripes. Carbon covers the steering wheel, the switch panel on the centre console and the mirror caps. The wheels are white, with polished split rims, and a carbon diffuser sits between the twin tailpipes. On the white leather base, the etched plaque lists the car's figures and reads Limited 07 of 08. It is built at 1:18.
