Ferrari unveiled the 296 Challenge at Mugello during the Finali Mondiali in October 2023. It was the ninth model in the history of the one-make Ferrari Challenge, then in its 32nd season, and the first with six cylinders in a series that had always used V8s. Ferrari took the road car's 2,992 cc twin-turbo V6, removed the hybrid system to save weight and raised output to 700 cv. With the spoiler at its steepest it makes 870 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, 18 per cent more than the 488 Challenge Evo before it, and it is two seconds a lap quicker at Mugello. It runs on Pirelli tyres developed for it, and it raced from 2024, starting with the Europe and North America series.
BBR shows the launch car in red, with white bands along the flanks, the number 32 on the doors and white stripes over the bonnet. Pirelli, Shell, Adler, Sabelt, Rotiform and Tubi Style logos line the sills, CHALLENGE script with a small tricolore sits on the rear quarters, and the tyres carry yellow Pirelli P Zero lettering. A carbon swan-neck wing with a tricolore top edge stands over the tail, above the open mesh rear, twin exhausts, a central rain light and a diffuser picked out in red. The car stands on a black suede base with red stitching. BBR builds it at 1:18.
