Georges Filipinetti, Ferrari's importer in Switzerland, bought 250 LMs for his Geneva-based Scuderia Filipinetti in 1964, and chassis 5899 won both of the first two events it entered. Ludovico Scarfiotti took it to victory at the Sierre-Montana-Crans hillclimb on 30 August 1964, and a week later, on 6 September, Nino Vaccarella won the Coppa Inter-Europa at Monza with it, seven-tenths of a second ahead of Roy Salvadori's Maranello Concessionaires LM after 35 laps, with David Piper's LM third. The car's later life was harder. Written off in a crash in 1965, it was rebuilt under Porsche Carrera 6 bodywork and raced in that form, before eventually being restored as a 250 LM.
The model shows the car as it won at Monza, before the white centre stripe it carried later that year: plain red, white #31 on the doors and tail, and Scuderia Filipinetti script and shield on the front wings. The rear body lifts in one piece to reveal the V12, the suspension and the inboard rear brakes, the front lid opens to a strapped spare wheel, and the doors have sliding windows. The right-hand-drive cockpit has blue seats, belts and a wood-rimmed wheel. CMC builds it at 1:18 as a hand-assembled metal precision model of more than 1,800 parts, in a limited edition of 1,500.
