Le Mans in 1965 was a race of attrition. The works Fords were all out within the first few hours, and through the night the works Ferrari prototypes lost time to cracked brake discs, while the customer 250 LMs, entered as prototypes because the model had still not been homologated as a GT, kept running. Scuderia Filipinetti's chassis 6119, shared by the Swiss drivers Dieter Spoerry and Armand Boller, was one of them: after 24 hours and 324 laps it finished sixth overall and third in its class, as 250 LMs took first, second and sixth. The winning NART car gave Ferrari what would be its last outright Le Mans victory until 2023.

This example carries a race-worn finish to match. The red is faded and chalky, the white stripe and roundels are discoloured, grime is spattered along the sills and around the fuel filler, the windscreen is dusted except where the wiper has swept it, and the wheels and tyres have been darkened. It is an applied finish over a complete model: the rear body still lifts over the V12, the front lid opens to the strapped spare, the doors open, and the cockpit keeps its blue seats and wood-rimmed wheel. The model underneath is CMC's 1:18 hand-assembled metal 250 LM in Scuderia Filipinetti livery.
