By the time it won the Tourist Trophy, chassis 3505GT had already been worked hard through the 1962 season. Willy Mairesse set fastest time with it at the Le Mans test weekend in April, Masten Gregory took second in Silverstone's International Trophy in May, and Innes Ireland won with it at Brands Hatch later that month before sharing it with Gregory at Le Mans, where it retired with starter and battery trouble. Ireland's victory in the RAC Tourist Trophy at Goodwood on 18 August, 3.4 seconds ahead of Graham Hill, capped that summer. The car had been ordered in right-hand drive for Stirling Moss, whose crash at Goodwood that April ended his career before he could race it.

This second example shows the car after a season of use. The pale green has been dulled and flecked with grime, the nose and sills are stained, the glass carries a film of dust, and the wheels, tyres and exhausts have been darkened; the covers are off the three nose intakes. The patina is an applied finish over a model that is otherwise complete: the bonnet, doors and boot open, the V12 is fully plumbed and wired, and the green-seated cockpit keeps its harnesses and wood-rimmed wheel. The model underneath is CMC's 1:18 hand-assembled metal 250 GTO in UDT-Laystall livery, with the MO 75722 plate and #15 roundels.
