Taking the roof off a 1,600 PS car is an engineering problem as much as a design one, and the W16 Mistral's most distinctive shapes are its answers. The two scoops rising behind the seats feed air to the engine and are built from a bespoke carbon structure strong enough to support the whole car in a roll-over. At the rear, the X-shaped lamps, a motif carried over from the Bolide, are functional too, framing ducts that vent the side oil coolers. The engine is shared with the Chiron Super Sport 300+, and the Mistral became the last series-production Bugatti to use it, built 99 times as an open-top farewell to the W16.
This piece is finished in exposed carbon tinted a deep teal green, the weave visible beneath the lacquer across the bonnet, doors and rear deck. Orange upholstery fills the cabin and orange brake calipers sit behind the two-tone wheels, the warm colour playing against the cool green from every angle. The raised rear wing, the roof scoops and the red X of the tail lamps are all sharply detailed. The roadster is presented on a black suede-finish base with white contrast stitching, its nameplate carrying the Bugatti macaron, the Mistral script and a piece number from an edition of 30. H&H builds it at 1:18.
