Development of the Divo began in early 2018, and in 2020 the first of the forty cars reached their owners. In between came more than 5,000 km of chassis testing on proving grounds, winding roads and race tracks, the Nürburgring Nordschleife among them, at speeds up to the limited 380 km/h and in each of the car's EB, Motorway and Handling modes. Bugatti's design team under Achim Anscheidt drew a car that looks as purposeful as it is: a reshaped nose, a reworked air curtain, a duct in the roof and a rear wing far wider than the Chiron's. It was unveiled at The Quail in August 2018, already sold out.
This example pairs a light, glossy silver with bright light blue across the splitter, sills, roof spine and diffuser surround, and the same blue runs around the wheel rims, lifting the grey multi-spoke wheels in profile. Dark exposed carbon fills the lower body, the tricolore sits on the sill and light-blue accents show inside the cabin. The car shares its carbon base with a separate model of the W16, gearbox attached and raised on two silver pegs, its paired turbochargers, charge pipes and heat-shielded exhaust manifolds all open to view. A nameplate carrying the Bugatti macaron, the Divo script and Ettore Bugatti's signature finishes the presentation. Built at 1:18.
