BMW GINA Light Visionary Model, Pearl White

The GINA adapts inside as well as out. When it is parked, the steering wheel and round instruments rest in an idle position; press the start button and they move into place for the driver, while the headrest, until then integrated into the seat back, rises automatically. The body plays the same game. Doors swing upwards and outwards, gathering the fabric into folds that disappear once they close, and a rear spoiler hidden under the skin lifts by itself at speed. In BMW's own phrase, each function is revealed only if and when it is needed.

Pearl white gives this example a soft lustre, the finish shifting faintly towards cream and silver as the light moves along the flanks, and it is matched with a red interior: red seats, door cards and steering-wheel rim against grey trim and stacked round dials. The open headlamps, kidney grilles, stalk-mounted mirrors and paired tailpipes in a carbon-weave diffuser are all crisply rendered.
