Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase Series II, Black & Gold

Rolls-Royce built the eighth-generation Phantom around its ride. It runs on self-levelling air suspension with electronically controlled dampers and active anti-roll bars, and a stereo camera behind the windscreen, which the company calls the Flagbearer, scans the road ahead and sets up the springs, dampers and anti-roll bars before the car reaches a bump, at speeds up to 100 km/h. Its tyres, developed with Continental, carry a layer of foam inside that lowers cabin noise by up to 9 decibels. The car is assembled by hand at Goodwood in West Sussex, and customer deliveries began in January 2018. This is the Extended Wheelbase version, 220 mm longer, in the Series II form announced in May 2022.

The scheme is gloss black on the lower body with a soft metallic gold over the bonnet, roof and boot, set off by silver window frames and a chrome grille. The faceted wheels are black with polished, line-cut faces. The interior is bright red leather on the seats, door panels and lower dashboard, with dark wood across the fascia. It sits on a black velvet base with white stitching, and the etched plaque reads Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase II, Jim&Bill and Henson&Heaven, one of 20. H&H builds it at 1:18.
