What Singer now calls the Classic Study starts with a customer's own 964, the 911 generation Porsche introduced in 1989 and counted as about 85 per cent new against the car before it. Singer takes it apart and rebuilds it with bodywork largely in carbon fibre, and the flat-six is reworked too; over the years that engine work has been done by Cosworth, by Ed Pink Racing Engines and by Williams. Inside, the rev counter is often finished in Singer Orange and reads to 11, with the redline at 7,200 rpm and the limiter at 7,300. Prices start above $475,000, and the car is offered as a coupé or a targa.
This coupé is in Viola Lavanda, a metallic violet that turns to a lighter lavender where the light falls across the wings and roof. PORSCHE script in a toning grey violet runs along the sills and across the tail, and the seats are trimmed in violet to match. Chrome overriders flank the rear number plate, the five-spoke Fuchs-style wheels have polished lips, and the slatted engine grille sits above twin central tailpipes. The car stands on a dark textured base with a red edge and a mirrored plaque. Make Up builds it at 1:18.
