Akira Nakai, born in Chiba in 1970, started out with a drift crew called Rough World before he bought a damaged Porsche 911 Turbo that became the first RWB car. His company, RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF, which means Rough World Concept, rebuilds Porsches with new bumpers, side skirts, spoilers and much wider arches, often fixed with exposed rivets, and widens the track a long way. The donor for this build is the 964, the 911 Porsche sold from 1989 to 1994. It brought a 3.6-litre M64 flat-six, coil springs in place of the old torsion bars, and power steering and ABS as standard on a 911 for the first time.
Here the body is silver with a carbon bonnet, a carbon front splitter and a tall carbon wing, and RWB is spelled out in large letters across the engine grille. Riveted arches cover black wheels on tyres with a red line around the sidewall. The engine lid lifts to show the flat-six and its cooling fan, bronze headers run to twin outlets under the tail, more bronze pipework runs along the sills, and a gold roll cage fills the cabin. The carbon-pattern base carries a plaque naming the RWB 964 Modified Version, and this piece is one of 50. MCM builds it at 1:18.
