Much of Williams Advanced Engineering's work on the DLS went into the engine. The air-cooled flat-six grew to 4.0 litres and gained four valves per cylinder, four camshafts and titanium connecting rods, with the former Porsche engine designer Hans Mezger consulted during development. It makes 500 bhp and revs to 9,000 rpm without a turbocharger, driving the rear wheels through a six-speed Hewland manual gearbox. Air reaches a carbon airbox through a ram-air intake in the rear side window, and vents in the engine lid let the heat out.
This one is metallic silver, with red PORSCHE script on the doors and across the tail and a thin white stripe along the sills and both bumpers. The five-spoke centre-lock wheels are silver with gold centre nuts. Red runs right through the cabin: red shell seats with harness slots, red door panels and a red roll cage, framed by carbon on the dashboard and tunnel. The Singer script sits on the engine grille above the DLS plate and the twin tailpipes. On the carbon-weave base, the plaque reads D&C, with the Singer script and Limited Edition, one of 20. It is built at 1:18, in a run of 20 for each colour.
