The engine is where the DLS departs furthest from an ordinary 911. Singer kept it air-cooled and built it in partnership with Hans Mezger, the Porsche engineer whose 2.65-litre racing flat-six won Le Mans in 1981, while Williams Advanced Engineering worked with Singer on the car as a whole. Singer quotes 500 bhp, from an engine taken out to 4.0 litres and revving to 9,000 rpm. Around that engine sits a body made entirely of carbon fibre, with wings widened over the wheels and a chassis and suspension retuned to match, yet the outline stays that of the air-cooled 911, from the round headlamps to the ducktail. Singer introduced it in 2018.
This piece is painted in the Gulf colours, powder blue with orange: an orange stripe over the bonnet, roof and tail, orange sill stripes with white PORSCHE lettering, and orange wheel centres inside polished rims. The cabin follows the scheme, with orange bucket seats, door cards and dashboard band visible through the glass. The engine lid opens on a carbon-lined bay with the carbon intake, its Williams Advanced Engineering plate, the cooling fan and gold-finished fittings all detailed. The black leather base is stitched and edged in orange, and its plaque reads Limited Edition, one of 25. IVY builds it in resin at 1:12.
