Porsche 911 RWB (993), Royal Ocean

Every car Akira Nakai finishes gets a name, and this one carries Royal Ocean in gold gothic letters along both sills. Underneath is a 993, the last air-cooled 911, which Nakai has widened with riveted arches, a new front bumper with a central plate, extended sills and a twin-plane wing. The decklid reads RWB above Sekund Entwicklung, the wording found on earlier RWB cars before it was changed to Zweite Entwicklung to correct the German. Small touches fill in the story: a Circuit Soul sticker above Rauh-Welt Begriff in the rear window, and Nürburgring Nordschleife, H&R and Bilstein stickers on the rear quarter glass.

The model is finished in a deep metallic blue that turns almost violet under the lights, with gold for the RWB lettering, the sill script and the RAUH-Welt band across the top of the windscreen. Gold five-spoke centres sit inside polished lips on tyres lettered idlers, the front and rear plates read RWB, and twin round tailpipes exit under the tail. Inside there are two Recaro seats and a roll cage. It stands on black leather stitched in yellow over an amber plinth, and the brushed plaque carries the ivymage logo, 993 RWB and the edition, one of 20. It is made by IVY under its ivymage name.
