For nine years Singer built a single model. It was sold as the Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer, and only once the company had added other programmes did it become known as the Classic Study. The formula did not change: a 964-generation 911, taken apart and rebuilt with carbon-fibre panels and the long bonnet of the early cars, its air-cooled flat-six reworked by outside specialists and the whole car finished to its owner's specification. Later studies went further, with Williams on the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study and with turbocharging on the Turbo Study, but the Classic came first.
This commission is in a soft lavender metallic with a black cabin, black PORSCHE lettering between twin stripes along the sills and silver five-spoke wheels in the Fuchs style. It comes dressed for a winter weekend: a chrome roof rack sits on top with a snowboard strapped to it, the board's top sheet printed in purples, blues and orange. The engine lid lifts on the flat-six with its six mesh-topped intake trumpets, and inside are eyeleted black seats, a drilled three-spoke wheel, drilled aluminium footwell plates and an orange-faced rev counter. It stands on a carbon-patterned base, and the plaque carries the Singer Vehicle Design signature and the edition, one of 30. IVY builds it at 1:12.
