Singer showed its first reimagined 911 at Monterey Car Week in 2009, and the method has held since: take an owner's 964, strip it, and rebuild it with carbon-fibre panels in the slimmer, long-bonnet shape of the early 911, with round headlamps standing proud of the wings and a ducktail over the engine. Every car is then specified with its owner, and the firm now calls this programme the Classic Study. This commission has a rally flavour. Four driving lamps are grouped on the bonnet between the headlamps, the kind of extra lighting rally cars carry for night stages, and the black body is set off with gold.

The paint is a deep gloss black, with gold for the PORSCHE lettering on each flank and across the tail and for the eight-spoke wheels, which have red calipers behind them. The lamps stand in chrome bezels above four small chrome-rimmed ovals around the Porsche crest. Inside, the cabin is black throughout, from the seats with their small eyelets to the drilled three-spoke wheel, with perforated aluminium footwell plates. The engine lid opens on the flat-six, its six mesh-capped intake trumpets standing above the ribbed fan housing. It sits on a black base with gold stitching over an orange-gold plinth, and the brushed plaque carries the Singer Vehicle Design script and the edition, one of 20. IVY builds it at 1:12.
