Rothsport Road and Race, in Sherwood, Oregon, builds the engine for the Gunther Werks 400R. It starts from Porsche's 3.6-litre air-cooled flat-six and takes it to 4.0 litres, with new pistons, individual throttle bodies and two-stage MoTeC management. New Atlas quoted more than 400 hp and a 7,800 rpm redline, with a Getrag G50 six-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels. The engine sits in a 993, the last air-cooled 911, clothed in carbon fibre for every panel except the doors, and Gunther Werks, of Huntington Beach, California, built 25.
This example is a bright pink with twin black stripes over the bonnet and roof. A pale lilac stripe runs along each sill with PORSCHE in black, the same lettering crosses the engine lid, and the five-spoke wheels are dark gunmetal. A carbon splitter sits under the nose, and at the back the full-width light bar runs above a Gunther Werks plate and twin central tailpipes. Inside, the cabin is black with carbon-shelled bucket seats, a carbon dashboard top and pink stitching on the steering wheel. The carbon pattern base carries a plaque naming Timothy & Pierre and the Gunther Werks 400R, reading Limited Edition, one of 20. Timothy & Pierre builds it at 1:18.
