Much of the work in the Gunther Werks 400R is out of sight. The car begins as a 993-generation Porsche 911, the last of the air-cooled 911s, and its carbon fibre body panels are vacuum bagged and cured in an autoclave at more than 250 °C. The arches grow by 30 mm a side, and the suspension uses adjustable KW Clubsport coilovers with a hydraulic lift for the nose, while keeping the original aluminium wishbones with reworked bushes, links and anti-roll bars. Inside, the carpets are replaced by bare carbon fibre and the front boot is lined in carbon. Gunther Werks showed the car at The Quail in Monterey in August 2017, with 25 to be built.
This model is finished in a matte light grey, close to white, the flat paint broken only by a pale grey stripe along the sills with PORSCHE in red. Gloss black five-spoke wheels show red brake calipers behind them. The interior is bright red against carbon: red seats in carbon shells, red door cards and a carbon dashboard with its row of dials. The car is set on a black base faced in carbon weave, its Timothy & Pierre plaque naming the Gunther Werks 400R and marking it as a limited edition. Timothy & Pierre builds it at 1:18.
