Each Gunther Werks 400R is built to its owner's order, on a 993-generation Porsche 911, the last of the air-cooled cars. The cabin is specified in the customer's own materials and colours: bucket seats in leather and Alcantara with optional harnesses, the same upholstery on the door trims, dashboard and centre armrest, a carbon parcel shelf in a strictly two-seat car, and five billet aluminium gauges, among them a tachometer to 9,000 rpm and a 200 mph speedometer. Twenty-five cars were planned when the 400R was shown at The Quail in Monterey in August 2017, and production began in Southern California in 2018. Each conversion cost about $525,000, with buyers supplying their own 993 or getting help to find one.
This model wears a solid mid grey with twin stripes of exposed carbon running over the front lid, roof and tail, and a lime green lip along the front splitter. PORSCHE runs along the sills in the same lime green, the brake calipers behind the dark grey five-spoke wheels are lime too, and the black cabin has lime stripes across the seats. It sits on a black base faced in carbon weave, with a plaque reading Timothy & Pierre, Gunther Werks 400R and Limited Edition, one of 20. Timothy & Pierre builds it at 1:18, in an edition of 20.
