Gunther Werks, founded by Peter Nam in Southern California, builds the 400R on the shell of a 993-generation Porsche 911 and remakes most of what surrounds it. The bumpers, wings, roof, engine lid and widened rear wing are carbon fibre, vacuum bagged and cured in an autoclave at more than 250 °C, and arch extensions add 30 mm a side. LED headlamps go in at the front, the wing is adjustable, and the rear wheels carry 315/30 tyres on 18-inch rims. The engine grows from 3.6 to 4.0 litres and to more than 400 hp while staying air-cooled. The car was revealed at The Quail in Monterey in August 2017, and 25 were planned.
This model shows its body as bare carbon weave, the pattern clear across the front lid, wings, bumpers and roof under a deep gloss. Against it, a light blue lip edges the front splitter and a light blue stripe along the sills carries PORSCHE in silver. The five-spoke wheels are gloss black with blue calipers behind them. Inside, the black cabin has light blue stripes on the seats and a light blue mark on the steering wheel rim. The car stands on a black base faced in carbon weave, its Timothy & Pierre plaque naming the Gunther Werks 400R and marking it as a limited edition. Timothy & Pierre builds it at 1:18.
