Porsche 911 DLS, Candy Red

The Singer DLS is what happens when reverence for the air-cooled 911 meets no compromise. Built by Singer with Williams Advanced Engineering, the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study took the 964-generation 911 and rethought every system around a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six revving to 9,000rpm. The shape here is faithful to the original 911 silhouette, but everything is sharpened: carbon-fibre bodywork, a hand-finished ducktail spoiler, Fuchs-pattern centre-lock wheels, and twin titanium tailpipes. Only 75 cars were made, each a study in how far a single idea can be carried by people who refuse to call it finished.

Make Up's Eidolon line treats the model with the same obsessive register, the candy red laid down in deep, lacquered coats that catch light along the haunches and read almost liquid over the rear arches. Red wheel centres and the fine PORSCHE sill script are picked out cleanly against the dark sills. Make Up presents it at 1:18 on a leather-trimmed display base.
