Liberty Walk has been in business since 1993, when Wataru Kato set it up in Nagoya. It began by selling body kits for kei cars, then imported American cars and supercars, and when Kato's wide Lamborghini kits caught on, the work grew into a separate division called LB Performance. The car under this kit is the second-generation Mini hatch, the R56, which BMW introduced in November 2006 and built at Plant Oxford in Cowley until November 2013, with Prince engines made at Hams Hall. Liberty Walk's parts for the R56 include a wide-body kit, bumpers, diffusers, side skirts and a ducktail rear wing in fibre-reinforced plastic.
This piece is in matte silver grey with a black roof, and a grey sunburst fans across each door around a small Japanese flag. LB PERFORMANCE runs along the sills and across the front bumper, the number 05 sits behind the front wheels, and Toyo Tires, AirREX, Work and LB-Works decals cover the riveted overfenders. Dark grey mesh wheels sit deep in the arches on Toyo tyres with white lettering, a roll cage shows through the glass, and a DUB and LB-R Fighters Works banner crosses the rear side window. At the back are an FI Exhaust decal and twin blue-tipped tailpipes. The car stands on a carbon-pattern base, and its plaque marks it as one of 20. It is built at 1:18.
