Mercedes-AMG unveiled the SLS AMG Black Series at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show and began its market launch in June 2013, drawing on the SLS AMG GT3 race car. The V8 rose to 631 PS at 7,400 rpm and 635 Nm, with the redline lifted to 8,000 rpm. Carbon-fibre body panels, lighter mechanical parts and changes to the space frame, plus a titanium exhaust that saved 13 kg and a lithium-ion battery that saved 8 kg, made it 70 kg lighter than the standard car. The track grew by 20 mm at the front and 24 mm at the rear, the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox sat 10 mm lower, and the ceramic front discs measured 402 mm. An optional aerodynamics package added a fixed carbon rear wing like the GT3's.

H&H finishes this one in matte purple over the whole body, with gloss black on the twin-blade grille and the vents behind the front wheels, and a carbon splitter at the front. The wheels are dark multi-spoke designs with orange calipers, and the carbon rear wing stands on two uprights over the boot lid. The rear has the AMG plate, an SLS badge and a black diffuser with a pair of tailpipes at each side. It sits on a black suede base with white stitching and a plaque naming the SLS AMG Black Series. H&H builds it at 1:18.
