Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series, Light Blue

For the Black Series AMG went into the 6.2-litre V8 itself. A revised valvetrain let it rev to 8,000 rpm, and peak power rose to 631 PS at 7,400 rpm, against 563 hp for the standard SLS, although torque fell slightly to 635 Nm. The car lost 70 kg, mostly through more carbon fibre, a titanium exhaust that saved 13 kg and a lithium-ion battery that saved 8 kg. Car and Driver timed it from 0 to 97 km/h in 3.2 seconds. Mercedes-AMG had unveiled the car at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2012, three years after the SLS itself.

This one is a custom finish: a metallic light blue with iridescent purple accents on the splitter, mirrors, bonnet vent, front wing vents, rear wing and diffuser. Dark multi-spoke wheels frame orange calipers, and the tail has an AMG plate between two pairs of trapezoid tailpipes set in the purple diffuser. The rear wing stands on two posts above the boot lid, and the cabin shows red details through the glass. It sits on a black suede base with white stitching and a plaque that names the Black Series.
