The SLS AMG was introduced at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and built at Sindelfingen from January 2010. It was the first Mercedes-Benz designed and built from scratch entirely by AMG, and it brought back gullwing doors, which rise on gas struts and have to be closed by hand. The Black Series of 2013 was the hardest version: 70 kg lighter than the standard car, with 631 PS from its 6.2-litre V8, wider wings and a carbon bonnet. The SLS was followed in 2014 by the Mercedes-AMG GT, a less expensive and less powerful car.
This one wears a Gucci-themed custom livery: a gold and white chequerboard printed with interlocking double-G monograms, a green, red and green stripe running over the bonnet, roof and boot lid, and a large bee on each door. The wheels are black, with orange calipers behind them, and the carbon splitter, front wing vents, rear wing and diffuser are left black. An AMG plate sits at the rear between two pairs of trapezoid tailpipes. It stands on a black suede base with white stitching and a plaque naming the Black Series. H&H builds it at 1:18.
