Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series, Grey

A road-going homologation special in spirit if not in name, the SLS AMG Black Series was the hardest edge of Mercedes-AMG's gullwing programme: the SLS stripped of weight, stiffened, and handed the 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 in its most uncompromising state of tune. The intent is clear in the bodywork: the widened arches, the carbon front splitter and the fixed carbon wing that replaced the standard car's retracting blade, plus the deep side sills and the vented front wings that mark out the Black Series from a regular SLS. It was the hardest version of the gullwing SLS, built for drivers who wanted the sharpest version of a car already conceived as a halo.

The model carries the satin-leaning metallic grey faithfully across the long bonnet and the high shoulder line, with the carbon elements, the black forged wheels and the contrasting brake calipers picked out against it. The rear treatment (quad tailpipes, diffuser and the SLS and AMG scripts) is all present and crisp at this scale. H&H presents it at 1:18 on a stitched display base.
