Mercedes-AMG unveiled the SLS AMG Black Series at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, and sales began in June 2013. It was inspired by the SLS AMG GT3 racing car, and the changes from the standard SLS are easy to spot: wider wings, a carbon fibre bonnet and front splitter, and an optional aerodynamics package with a fixed carbon rear aerofoil that could be adjusted. The 6.2-litre V8 went from 563 hp in the standard car to 631 PS, the brakes were AMG ceramic discs, and the car weighed 70 kg less.
This one is in candy green metallic, deep and glossy, with dark multi-spoke wheels over orange calipers. The carbon splitter, the dark vents in the front wings and the carbon rear wing on its two posts stand out against the green, and the black diffuser holds two pairs of trapezoid tailpipes either side of an AMG plate. The wing mirrors and the bonnet vent are picked out in the body colour, and the headlamps carry their AMG detailing. It sits on a black suede base with white stitching and a plaque that names the SLS AMG Black Series. H&H builds it at 1:18.
