Mercedes-AMG revealed the GT Black Series in July 2020, at the top of its two-door GT range. The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 was given a flat-plane crankshaft in place of the cross-plane crank used in the GT R, and it made 730 PS and 800 Nm. A manually adjustable front splitter, an enlarged grille based on the GT3 racer and a rear wing with an active flap produced more than 400 kg of downforce at 249 km/h. On 4 November 2020 Maro Engel lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in one in 6:43.616, then the fastest lap by a road-legal production car. About 1,700 were built, and the car later served as the Formula One safety car.
This one is finished in a bright orange with a pearly sheen, set against the black of the carbon roof, the carbon panels either side of the central bonnet vent and the carbon splitter, canards and side skirts. The tall two-element wing is reproduced on its high mounts, and quad tailpipes sit in a carbon diffuser. Black wheels show large discs behind the spokes, and V8 Biturbo badges sit on the front wings. It stands on a white leather base with red stitching and a plaque marked Limited Edition, built at 1:18.
