The MP4-12C was McLaren's first production car since the F1 ended in 1998. Development began in 2005, the design was shown online in September 2009, and series production started at Woking in February 2011. It was built around the MonoCell, a carbon-fibre tub that weighs 80kg and took four hours to make, against 3,000 hours for the F1's, with a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 of 607 bhp. McLaren had no stand at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, yet four tuners brought versions of the 12C there. Hamann, the tuner Richard Hamann founded in Laupheim in 1986, showed the memoR: a complete reworking of the body that drew on the McLaren F1 and the GT3 car, with two different sets of wheels.
MG Model Plus finishes it in Matte Black all over, with Hamann badges on the nose and the rear panel. The body shows the memoR changes: a vented bonnet, a roof scoop, a new front apron with mesh intakes, deep side intakes, a fixed wing above the slatted rear deck and a wide diffuser. The wheels are black multi-spoke designs. A small card sits beside the car on its black textured base. MG Model Plus builds it at 1:18.
